The threat to the rhino population remains as high as ever. Horns like the one in this picture are fast becoming a thing of the past. This female has since been dehorned to protect her and her young calf’s life against the greed of poachers looking to sell rhino horns to Asian markets, which use them in traditional medicines. Though science has definitively proved that rhino horn has absolutely no restorative powers, the scourge of poaching continues.

This image shows this little family after a mud bath in soil with a high red oxide content, blending them in with the soil around them. If only they could blend in so well all the time!
