The sparring of male Zebra is often a violent and vicious affair. Few people know that male zebra possess large canine teeth, which they use to bite each other during this often-lengthy fighting for dominance.
This image, captured at Pumba Private Game Reserve, in the Eastern Cape, captures the moment that one male manages to outmanoeuvre his opponent and land a blow to the side of his head. These males had no regard for their immediate surrounding during this heated exchange, which allowed for an extraordinary visual from close contact.
